Well, here we are. All of our “Be Hope To Her 2010” locations have now been established, and now comes the fun part. You have planned, you have put together a committee, and we are now entering the implementation phase. We are less than one month away from your BH2O+ event! Can you believe it?
I believe one of the most intimidating challenges to a successful event is fundraising. Let’s face it. It is hard work, but you didn’t join us in this work because it was easy. You joined in this work because you you didn’t want to sit on the sidelines. You wanted to get engaged in this fight, and you wanted to make a difference in this world. Truth is, you already are making a difference. You’ve got what it takes to get the ball rolling and get many others to join us in this fight to end extreme poverty, together, one community at a time.
We want to help you in your efforts too. In fact, we have created a list of about 20 ideas that we believe can help your campus CRUSH your fundraising AND participation goals!!!
Here’s just a few of the highlights . . .
Show Off—have breakdancers or bucket drummers use yellow buckets in their routines while putting a yellow bucket out front to collect donations; alternatively use the buckets as a stage for a performer.
Only Water—Give up drinking your favorite drink for a week, and drink only water instead; donate the money you saved to Nuru. For a real challenge, try drinking all of that water from a yellow bucket. J
Stache Bash For Cash—Have a party featuring facial hair, and then let people give $$$ to vote for the best real or drawn-on mustache/facial hair at the gathering.
As you can see, these aren’t just ways to raise money, they are also pretty fun too. The work we are doing is definitely challenging, but there’s no reason why we can’t have fun while we do it! Hoping you and your team have fun over the next few weeks and looking forward to the tangible difference we will make together in being hope to those who currently lack opportunities.
