YOLA – Nuru Nigeria and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), as part of their commitment to building resilient communities, marked the official close-out of Building Community Resilience through Agribusiness Development (BC-RAD) project during a ceremony held in Yola, Adamawa State, on May 22, 2025
Funded by the European Union (EU) and German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the event brought together key stakeholders, including community leaders, government representatives, donor agencies, farmers, and local agribusinesses. Together, attendees celebrated the impact and achievements of the two-year initiative aimed at fostering sustainable livelihoods through agribusiness in conflict-affected communities.

Launched in 2023, the BC-RAD project was designed to strengthen food security, enhance economic opportunities, and promote social cohesion by empowering smallholder farmers and youth in agribusiness value chains. The project directly benefited over 5,000 registered farmers across three Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Adamawa State (Michika, Hong, and Gombi LGAs) through climate-smart training, access to inputs, market linkages, activities focused on women’s inclusion, and income-generating activities.
In her remarks, Amy Gaman, Managing Director of Nuru Nigeria, expressed gratitude to the communities and partners that made the project a success. “The BC-RAD project represents our commitment to empowering rural communities to become self-sufficient and resilient, especially in regions affected by conflict and instability. Today, we are proud to see the real transformations that have taken place in the lives of farmers, youth, and women entrepreneurs,” she said.
